At ELC Roofing we offer a few different options when it comes to Torch on Felt flat roofs.

We offer three Torch on Felt products with different guarantees periods to suit your requirements, these are 10 years, 15 years and 18 years with all the Felt being made by IKO and Soprema.

IKO and Soprema’s range of torch-applied systems is second to none.

Torch-on membranes have an underside which has been pre-treated with a covering of thermofusible bitumen.

This covering is then heated with a propane gas torch and the membrane is applied to the surface of the roof while the bitumen is still hot.

At ELC Roofing we offer a three-layer system to add extra protection to your property’s flat roof.

When replacing or building a new flat roof it’s important to consider the carpentry as this is one of the most important factors to making your roof lasts as long as possible.

Quick Torch on Felt FAQ:

Can you nail torch on felt?

If the area you live in is very windy, or your shed roof is a peculiar design or pitch, you can try bonding the torch to a cap sheet on the surface of the wood using shed felt adhesive as well as nails.

How do you torch down a flat roof?

Using this installation method, we can use sheets of modified bitumen which is rolled out onto the roof. Here, the roofing professional will use a propane torch, which will heat the material and adhere it to the surface. When the layers arrive at the correct temperature, the seams are melted together thus creating a waterproof seal.

Can you felt over a felt roof?

If your roof is flat with no ridge (pent roof), applying the felt is done the same way as doing it for one side of a pitched roof. We’ll start at the lowest edge, nail the felt along with the facia, spread onto the roof and nail the top edge.

Is torch on felt any good?

In our unbiased opinion, we believe so! Highly regarded due to its long-lasting durability, this type of roof is not affected by UV rays or sunlight. Equally, this means the material is resistant against wind and rain and is rarely pierced by debris, twigs or branches.
