• Finding a leak on a sloped roof or a shingled roof is far harder than on a flat roof.
• Flat roofs are easier to work on and hence often cheaper to fix.
• A flat roof will normally last 20-25 years. If your roof is younger then it may be under warranty
• Find out what your roof is made of (we can help; this affects the cost of repair) eg felt, asphalt, lead, other metals, fibreglass, EPDM or single-ply membranes
• A rough idea of how long the flat roof has been leaking. If it has been for some time the saturated brickwork and masonry and weakened structural timbers could be an issue
• Weak points on a roof like this are around the edges and abutment points
• If you see a large puddle of water on your roof this is called pooling and is one of the main problems with flat roofs as it places extra stress on the joints and seals
