There are many ways in which roofers typically enter our industry, with many starting out as roof labourers before gaining the relevant on-site experience, while Apprenticeships with building or roofing companies may also be offered, their availability dependent on the local jobs market.
Those wishing to become roofers may also take college courses in general construction skills or those related to a more specific area, such as the Level 2 Diploma in Roof Slating and Tiling.
Already-employed roofers may be encouraged to train for such additional industry qualifications as the Level 2 Diploma in Built-up Felt Roofing and Level 2/3 NVQs in Roofing Occupations, Mastic Asphalting (Construction) and Cladding Occupations (Construction).
